My transformation Story

Life, The Truth and Being Free!

The title of this blog is a book that I highly recommend by Steve Maraboli. It's a book that will definitely ignite a fire within yourself and is a must read. It's filled with so many insights on life! It basically maps out a plan of life that is so easy to follow:  Engage life, stay aligned with the truth and find the freedom to create something better for those we touch every day. It's a great book to read over and over again and to pass onto others.  It's one to keep at your bedside for daily morning motivation.  There is power in every page. Look for it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

There is a section in the book that hits home for me. While on this weight loss journey, I have become obsessed with the scale. I always want the number to go down closer and closer to my goal. I know I have talked or preached about celebrating the non-scale victories and to go by your measurements rather than that stupid number that appears on the little display screen. Reading this excerpt below finally made me re-think my relationship with the scale and how I view my new self and how to battle my weight loss for the rest of my journey.

"Get Off The Scale!

You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness, and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.

Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.

It’s true; the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!"

Those words are so beautifully written and are so true. What do you think? Has it changed your perspective on how you view yourself? I know it has changed me forever!
