I wanted to share about my weekend trip that the hubs, my brother and sis-in-law took to Colorado this last weekend. The trip was supposed to be all about us doing a STRIDE certification with Shaun T, the creator of Insanity. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene decided to interfere and kept Shaun T from getting to Colorado . Since we were already half way there, we had packed and rearranged our schedules, we decided to press on and make a little vacay out of it.
We got to Colorado early evening, got checked into our hotel and immediately were thinking of what we were going to do to workout. We needed to decide whether or not we were going to try and go for a run or find a place to workout. Luckily, our hotel had a contract with Bally’s Total Fitness to where we could workout for free. Total score!!
We got dressed and headed over to the gym. We marched in there like we owned the place dressed in our ATA gear. We were going to represent in Colorado ! J We asked to use an empty aerobic room and we got at it. We couldn't get their music player to workout, so we worked out our Iphone playlist. Our workout consisted of us using their Wavemaster bags for kickboxing, weights and medicine balls for a circuit training. We ended the session with abs and a jog on the treadmill. I think I burned close to 800 calories from that 60 minute “on the fly workout.” It was great!!
The next day we decided to take a hike up the Seven Falls and South Cheyenne Canyon. We climbed the 224 steps up to the mile long hiking trail that leads to Inspiration Point. My brother who has a deathly fear of heights conquered his phobia and even climbed up. We were so proud of him!! We were all there to support him and to kick his phobia’s little ass!!
This got me thinking, who is your biggest workout motivator? The four of us while out of our comfort zone, made the most of our circumstances when were out of town. I guess that’s what happens when you get four fitness junkies in a room together, but seriously, who motivates you the most? Is it yourself? Your spouse or significant other? Your children? It’s funny that I can openly say this, but I absolutely love being active!! I love how exercising makes me feel. I am a big motivator for myself, but I have to admit the credit of biggest motivator goes to my hubs and my kiddos!! They get me going when I don’t want too!
Below are some pics from our trip, but I would love to hear more from all of you on what keeps you motivated to work out. Comment away!
