My transformation Story

Being grateful!!

This past Sunday, August 7, my twin brother, Michael and I celebrated our birthday. We turned the big 35!  While I embrace every birthday that we get to celebrate, my brother on the other hand gets very sad about turning one more year older. I think that’s funny!

Birthdays were never represented well in our family. It was always treated as if it was just another day. Don’t get me wrong. We received plentiful gifts, but they were never a surprise. We would always go to the store and pick it out. If it was before our birthday, we would receive said gifts on that so called special day. Not really exciting, am I right? To me, you would think that a birthday would be more important that any national holiday.  Seriously, what could be more important for a person than to celebrate their existence? We should all be grateful for being alive and living just one more day or year for that matter.

This year, I had so much to be grateful for. Going through many hardships with my marriage at the beginning of the year and then being able to work through them was definitely a highlight. Also, I began this awesome weight loss journey that has skyrocketed into something that I never thought I would have ever been able to do or succeed in. Pretty soon,  I will be experiencing some awesome events that are coming up and trying out some great opportunities that you will have to read about in future blogs.

Anyway, Here are some photos below are from our 30th birthday and then from our recent 35th.  Do you think we have changed much? Yep, I think we have.

It was nice to step away from the weight loss blogs for a moment, but thinking through this hectic but yet fantastic year,  I came up with a top ten list (in no particular order) of things that I am grateful for.
  1. For the willingness to work hard being built into me.  (Thanks Dad!!)
  2. For the good relationships I have with my family (especially my parents and parent in-laws).
  3. For a husband who equals me.
  4. For having two awesome kids, who love me unconditionally.
  5. For the job that I have that allows me to provide for my family.
  6. For the people I meet everyday.
  7. For the ability and willingness to change my mind when I'm proven wrong.
  8. That my parents are still married. almost 38 years! (WOW)
  9. That I see the sun rise every morning. It just means one more day on this Earth.
  10. For books and the power of sight to read them and for music and the ability to hear its melodies!!
What would be on your list?
